The Opus

THE OPUS

Lebanon, Ohio. Currently under design and construction oversight by Springhouse Architects. Approximately $9 million. One of three extraordinary homes the Springhouse team is actively guiding from concept through construction administration — and the most significant residential work in the firm’s history.

Tom first hired Springhouse to design his home.

Then he hired us to design his office.

Now he’s back — and this time, the project is what he calls his Opus.

The site is 25 acres outside Lebanon, Ohio. Private. Quiet. A pond that caught the morning light in a way that changed how we oriented the entire house.

The program was complex: a home for two empty nesters that could also hold formal family gatherings — without either mode feeling like an afterthought. We solved it with a formal wing and a personal wing, hinged together at the center by a grand foyer.

That foyer features keyhole transitions — a design decision rooted in Anjou’s Chinese heritage. Not as ornament. As architecture.

And for Tom, who thinks by walking: a colonnade wraps the full perimeter of the home, transitioning from covered walkway to landscaped path. He will never be without a place to move.

On a grand scale, we designed a home that feels both monumental and deeply personal — one that holds a family’s legacy while leaving room for the next chapter.

Springhouse Architects. For clients who know what they want and deserve a firm that can deliver it.
