We’ve Built a Community of People Just Like You: Join Our Free Custom-Home Facebook Group!
If you haven’t heard the news, 2020 was a big year for Springhouse Architects—we officially launched our own building arm of the business, Springhouse Structures, as well as Springhouse Collaborative, which is our free, private Facebook home-building community! Here’s what you need to know about each, and what’s in it for you.
Springhouse Structures: Building your quality custom home exactly as you envisioned.
2020 has been a totally unpredictable year. At first, I didn't know where the economy was going to go, and I certainly wasn’t sure where homebuilding was going to go, either. With all of the extra time on my hands, I decided I've always wanted to build my own projects. And that’s exactly what we did.
So, I started a construction company—not on a whim, but after years and years of thought. 2020 gave me some time and openness to think about what I really wanted Springhouse to do. Over the years, Springhouse has designed some of the most beautiful homes. Even though we never built the home for our clients, we’ve always worked with them from design all the way through selecting materials, construction, and being their advocate along the way. I decided I wanted to provide that service through Springhouse.
First, I hired Rick Inesta as our construction manager in June. Rick has built homes for years, and after six months together, we are now building our first home for an architecture client of ours. So far, we have dug a hole, poured footers, and are waiting to get walls up. Every day, I'm learning what to do and how to do it better. Luckily, we understand our clients, listen to them, and know what they want. When we're designing their house, we spend so much time designing, talking and hearing their vision, as well as learning about their family—because of this, the construction process is much more peaceful, with much less anxiety. They know us and they trust us. It was a perfect next step for us, and we couldn’t be more excited.
Springhouse Collaborative: You don’t need to go through the custom home process alone.
Now that we’re designing and building, our team of six fully understands the entire custom home process. We want to reach more people and be their guide. And although I can’t be the architect and builder for everyone (even though I really, really want to!), I want to help everybody—whether they’ve just signed on to do a custom home for the first time or just have questions and want to know more about the process.
As the founder and principal architect at Springhouse, I’ve done residential work for my entire career, which spans about 25 years. I’ve owned Springhouse Architects for 12 years, and have worked almost exclusively on residential work—both renovation and new construction. Throughout that time, I've learned a lot, and so have my clients. Now, I’m happy to be able to share that knowledge with you through Springhouse Collaborative.
In our free Springhouse Collaborative Facebook group, I will be answering questions, as well as prompting them. We'll talk a lot about what you need to know before you have that first meeting with the builder, safeguarding your money, creating a budget, the emotions behind such a big project, choosing the perfect site, selecting materials for construction, timeline, and who to trust. I want you to start off strong. We only have three rules: no name calling, be helpful, and no selling.
The best part? This is not just reserved for Springhouse clients—if you know someone who’s looking to do a large remodel project, or considering a custom home (or in the process of building a custom home as we speak!), share this with them.
The truth is, we’re in the midst of another boom, which makes me a little bit nervous for people. I believe there's a need for a space where people can come and share their stories, ask questions, and learn from what I've learned over the years. Plus, I invite my past clients to share what they've learned, too.
More importantly, now more than ever, people need a home and a place to restore themselves—a place to feel safe and healthy, as well as a place to recover. Of course, that doesn’t need to be a brand-new, expensive custom home. But the process of getting there often involves construction (whether renovation or a new home), and I'm passionate about helping people survive that complex process. It's hard to learn everything about it, and you just can't learn it all.
That’s where Springhouse Collaborative comes in! I'm hoping that you'll take me as your guide, join our group and ask questions.
Dreaming about your perfect home is easy—taking the right next step is hard.
I know how important it is to create a home you’ll love, and I would love to help you. So, join our group here! I will be live once a week and promise to log in every single day to answer your questions. See you there!
