Our Interior Designer Renovates Her Kitchen
When I designed my kitchen, I wanted it to reflect the time period of the house. The inspiration came from mid century architecture that combined organic and geometric details. I wanted you to feel like you were stepping back in time but with the modern conveniences and design of the 21st century.
The backsplash tile and range are my examples of an updated mid century modern feel that expresses my own style. Your home needs to be a representation of yourself. It also needs to function uniquely to the way you and your family live and entertain.
That is why, early in the design process, I decided that we needed to create an open space plan that would be ideal to have family and friends over; where I would not be closed off in the kitchen cooking. So, opening up the wall and creating a pass-through with countertop seating was a perfect solution to tie the kitchen and great room together. Ideal for the whole family to come over and enjoy a large Thanksgiving feast!
My family loves to eat, drink and converse. We enjoy snacking on appetizers at the bar while waiting on dinner. Our family has a traditional Thanksgiving dinner that includes Turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes with gravy and cranberry relish (my favorite). All made from scratch and with love.
When the table is set and dinner is ready, we migrate to the dining room where we all sit together and give thanks, reflecting back on what we are thankful for from the past year. This is my favorite Thanksgiving tradition. Oh, did I forget to mention football....
My kitchen is the heart of the home and essential for entertaining. Here’s to everyone having a wonderful Thanksgiving. Cheers & bon appétit!
